Default NEED HELP!!!

OK, heres the deal, I bought a new 883L in april. It has 15000 miles on it since I bought it in april. Except the 1000 service I have done all the maintenance myself since the stealer where I bought it was great before the sale and have sucked since. Anyway, I live in Florida and ride all year, I do not own a car, hence the 15000 miles in 7 months. Tonight on the way home from work the clutch cable broke right at the clutch lever!! I lube it at the right times and no warning that it was about to break. Anyway, besides the 1000 mile clutch adjustment all i have done is adjust the slack in cable and all has been fine. I went and bought a new cable since the dealer would not warrenty it cause I took it off instead of having it towed in to them. Now for my question!!, The adjustment down at the clutch does not have a lock nut to break loose just a nut and spring that sets over the adjustment pushrod. It seems to me that you turn the pushrod counter clockwise till slight drag and then 1/2 turn clockwise. Is that correct?? Thanks in advance for the help. My next purchase in a service manuel.

Turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise until resistance is felt, then back off ¼ turn. That's from the book.

I usually set it at 1/8 to 1/4 turn.

Here is info (and pictures) from a thread I did a year or so ago.

((This information might also be helpful for those that replace the derby cover, or remove it to add fluid, put everything back together, and then find that their clutch isn't working correctly)).
