Audio on a Sportster?!
Anybody listen to tunes while riding? Ever since I got my bike it's the one thing I really missed from riding a BT. Lol. I know it's lame, but I wanna hear music not sing to myself inside a full face. I've seen posts for amplified speakers to mount on the handlebar. I think the sporty is just too small a bike to attatch a bunch of stuff to. Sounds kinda dumb but how about a little boom box that straps to the sissy bar and sits on the 2up part of the seat? The speakers would be right by you, like on a BT... eh...
I was really thinking about getting an iPod shuffle, the small iPod that only needs one button to operate... it just shuffles the songs you have on it... kinda perfect for what I want. I thought I could have my leather repair lady stitch in a place for a earbuds to go and a holder for the iPod. Just a thought, could be all real nice with zippers to hide earbuds when not in use...
Thats my best idea, what do you guys think? I just need some damn tunes on longer rides man... sheet.

Remember that in CA, you can only have one earbud in to be legal.
The way people drive around here, I wouldn't want more than one anyhow.
There are some earplugs that do sound as well. I have a friend that wired it up so he has the earplugs with sound in one ear of his ipod.
I don't wear earplugs because they bother me, so I'm not sure how well they work at either role.
Stereo on the back seat sounds like a PITA.

Somewhere I saw an ad for a Bluetooth equipped helmet with speakers. I thought that would be great for use with an Ipod or even cell-phone. Some of the cell phones are MP3 capable now with built-in Bluetooth wireless.

I ride about 70 miles a day as long as the temp here in SE Wisconsin is over 30 degrees and I always have my IPOD shuffle with me. The ear buds fit perfect under my my full face helmet. It's probably illegal to ride with both ear buds in place but I figure I can pull one out it I ever get pulled over. I also wear them when I'm driving my jeep Wrangler. The wind noise with the Wrangler is too loud to get the full affect of the built in stereo system.

How about something like this: http://www.accessoryinternational.com/pow.htm
If you don't want them on your handlebar - you could always fashion an mount to a sissybar

SKJOLD,
I'm with you. I'm a "wind-in-the-face" rider who likes the sound of the bike, the sights, and the scents of the road. If I wanted music I'd drive an Escalade with surround sound. Until I get to that point, I'll just ride with my senses attuned to what's around me and soak it all in. For me, being one with the road and the surroundings is largely what a bike's all about.
