A second for Evel ..

RE: A second for Evel ..
Dale Franks, you are incorrect. I am named after Roger Reiman who built Evel's Harley XR-750's. Evel rode whatever was free to him. He had many endorsements and courted Harley-Davidson for several years beforeswitching.Evel was very patriotic and wanted nothing more than to jump on an American built motorcycle. He preferred Harley's as it was shown later on after his carrer was over. He toured the country signing autographs and with his traveling meuseum. They only featured Harey and that is all hespoke of.
Roger Reiman and his father Hank owned Reiman's Harley-Davidson in Kewanee, Il.. Roger was a 3 time winner of the Daytona 200 and AMA Flattrack Champion. He built Evel's bikes for several years and I remember my father taking me to the shop to set on the bikes and meet with EVEL. He was by far one of the most interesting guy's I have ever met. Reiman's is still in buisness today and is owned by Roger's lifelong best friend Denny Packee. He could probably set down and talk for day's about the crazy times spent with Evel an his crew.
Godspeed Evel! The "Big Man" upstairs must need some entertainment.

RE: A second for Evel ..
Watching him jump sparked my interest in bikes .. and there was a huge household fight about whether or not my brother and I were going to be permitted to ride. Dad won.
..... I wish now I stll had the Evel toy that you used to wind up ...when you stopped winding he and his bike took off like a bat out of hell. Man that thing was cool and I spent hours in the driveway jumping over my Tonkas. The fellas and I used to get really excited when "he made it" ...
As I got older and watched interviews and clips, I found new respect for the guy. Especially the one when he confronts the Hells Angels. Not because he stood up to those guys, but because of his strong faith in his own moral fiber. People like that dont come along very often ....

I grew up watching him jump on TV and along with every other kid with a bicycle I set up some boards on some blocks to make a ramp and tried to emulate him, imagining my 5 foot jump to be over the fountain at Caeser's Palace and wondering where someone gets the ***** to do something like that. Watching interviews with him you learned his opinion on everything and I loved his "kiss my ***' attitude. He didn't care what anyone thought, he was Evel freekin Kneivel, and you weren't!
