RE: detachable windshield
I bought a length of plastic coated cable, hardware and locksat Home Depot. About $15 total cost. I fashioned a longer lengthto secure my jacketto the bike and a shorter length for the helmet and windshield. Sure, a thief can still manage to steal, but it will attract a lot of attention unless the thief happens to be carrying a bolt cutter. I park my bike in the garage at home and within frequent eyesight when it is out.

RE: detachable windshield
I leave mine on all the time and have never had any problems with anything getting stolen or even touched. (kids did blow the horn on my scoot one day). I leave my helmet on the sissy bar, I sometimes leave my gloves on the seat and a jacket hanging from the handle bars. Of course, none of what I leave is of great value...I wouldn't leave my nice leather jacket out without locking it...
But no problems yet.

VBCH, exactly what I am going to do....good job!
Plus, I have the paging alarm system on my bike so when someone gets within about 3 feet of the bike it warns them away and then pages me within a half mile of the bike. If they continue to stay the bike goes into a full alarm and damn loud too, works great!
