Default Brake lever play

Just had front brakes replaced and the lever now has more play than before. The mechanic said they were bleedif I can't fit a finger in between the lever and the throttle, it was fine. Is this common for a '03 883R??

Mine doesn't have play anywhere close to that. It fact the lever always returns to the original (al the way out) position every time.

Doesn't sound right to me either. The brake should start to grab within the first 1/4" - 3/8" of travel.

Sorry, better clarify. I have to pull the lever about 2" before it grabs. It does grab but it seems a little too much to have to pull to get it to grab.................

Sounds to me like there is still some air in the brake line.

i agree.. sounds like air...

i the mech. is willing to bleed them, let HIM do it. they can be a bit of a PINA. for some silly reason, the banjo fittings on these bikes love to trap air.

There souldnt be that much play, bleed the brakes again, just takes a couple of seconds to do, just make sure you don't get brake fluid anywhere but on the rag your holding.
