Some people really seem to have a hazy understanding of what their bijes are worth.

Here's a nice 2004 Sporty for only $14,000.
Here's a '99 for $14,800.
Here's an '03 for $14,750. But everything on the bike is like new!

I mean, good for them if they can get their asking price, but those prices seem a little steep.

I notice the first two have been custom painted.

Perhaps thats why the owners believe them to be more valuable. But everyones taste with things such as apaint job is different, so unless the paint job you've had is exactly (or darned close to) what a prospective buyer was looking for, any additional value to them in the paint job is probably minimal

 

I asked a bit low to make a sale, but I only got $4500 for my 2000. What was I thinking, I could have gotten $10k more!

You can ask anything you want. When it is sold, that is what it is worth. Unsold is when you bought it yourself.

 

If I could sell mine for $14,000 I would in a second.I would then go buy a brand new Nighster.and still have extra cash for extras.

 

I think some of those are a response to the OL saying "You have to sell that bike" So the '04 XL gets "on the market" at 14k.

 

That's the truth.... If you aren't too concerned about selling immediately... Then I say ask what you believe it's worth... Then it's up to you to decide what offer you will take. I wouldn't sell the Nightster I have right now for less than $14g... But that's because it isn't for sale [8D]
