I'm suprised you didn't see that dog getting thrown out the window at 80 in your mirror.

I;ve got a dog (affectionately name Harley D) that loves the sound of Harleys. The wife got her for me when I was in Iraq in 2005. She sits up and stares with fascination everytime we go past one, but can't crotch rockets. Don't know if it's the sound or what!!

It does tend to drive some dogs crazy. I think alot of it has to do with resonance and their ears.

I still have standard pipes on, but have noticed some dogs do seem to absolutely hate the sound of the bike. Havent experienced it so much with trained domestic pets. But I live in the countryside and have had several farmers dogs going berserk and chasing after the bike. The first time I experienced it I had just pulled up to a junction on some country lanes in the middle of no where, didnt know the area and was busy reading the road sign. Suddenly heard loud fierce barking and turned to see two very large dogs who had just leapt over a large wall to the side of me and were flying through the air towards me at about head height. I'm still a novice on the bike and dont mind admitting I nearly soiled myself on the spot. Fortunately the bike was in first gear and I instinctively just hit the gas and flew forward without looking back. Probably the quickest take off I've done to date!

Feel free to laugh your heads off. Im sure I would if I were reading this, but it scared the bejezus out of me at the time LOL.

Most dogs are only as smart as there owners, I am sure that when the little ankle nipper freaks out at a loud noise or a bike the owners think its funny, and that encourages the animal.

That cracked me up! I've always hated little yappy ankle biters myself and prefer my 90 lb. beasties. It was my heartbreak when my twins each got themselves a pair of them and started referring to me as "grandma" to these damn dogs! [:@] But. . .they can become kind of endearing after you get to know them. As long as I don't have to own one and it stops at doggy-sitting once in a awhile.

We chase dogs off of us by flipping the throttle all the time. . .

My dog HATES motorcycles. Even when my buddy brought his GSX-R over she would go bananas. Whenever a moped goes by she tries to go through the fence to get it. Its hilarious.

I used to work in other peoples houses, and usually get along with their pets.
Almost lost my arm to a St. Bernard in one house and had an ankle biter grab my pants leg, just missing the skin, but I still have the scars from a malmute that attacked me after the owner had tied him. Had to wait for the health dept. to detirmine the dog didn't have rabies. Long 3 weeks!!!!!
