Default Busted Horn

Has anyone had the problem of their horn sounding like it got a bad case of laryngitis? I took my bike into the dealer yesterday for this problem and they told me it's been happening in most of the stock horns. He said when they remove them and bench test them they work fine. They've complained to HD about the problem but they still haven't heard of a solution since Harley is not admitting there is a horn problem He said they would replace it under warranty but it would probably happen again. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem........

Had the problem with an 06 883L. took it off, dealer checked, said was fine. Put it back on scooter, checked all my grounds and found my negative cable had a little "wiggle" ..tightened everything up and re-checked all connections and the same horn was working fine when I upgraded to an 06 1200C.

The sound you are describing can be caused by the mounting bolt being overly tight.
Drove me nuts trying to figure it out on mine when I changed the cover.

You get the same sound if you grab the horn and honk it, at least on mine.

Where's this negative cable and where was it loose?

Yep, got the same problem here. If it is the negative cable, like someone asked, where is the negative cable? My brother-in-law has an 03 fat boy with the same problem. I ohmed the ground but never followed through.
