We're packed away for the winter :-(

RE: We're packed away for the winter :-(
Glad to hear that so many of you are able to go 24/7/365.
Now, I'm not one who is afraid of riding in the cold (that's what jackets/gloves/helmets/etc are for), but I do not like the idea of riding around here with the heavy amount of salt that will be inevitable. And that salt will stay around all season until there's been a few good cleansing rainfalls.
Ah well.... just humor me with your good luck and adventures in warm sunny southlands!

I am in Austin, (Central Texas) with the "Hill Country" on my doorstep. Been riding today in denim Jacket,84 degrees. Tomorrow is forecast record highs of 89 degrees. It may be shirt sleeves time again. Winter hibernation is usually only when we get an "Ice Day". Cagers sliding everywhere. Normally lasts till noon. Sorry, don't mean to rub it in.

I'm actually getting used to riding in the 30 degree temps here in theNew England mornings - I dress warm and the bike runs very nice in cold temps, even though she is bitchy until she warms up. Trouble is it gets dark early and cagersseem overlydangerous (even more than usual) during the winter season. They dont expect to see bikers and I find that I'm tailgated and cut off more so now than a few months ago.
Once we have the first good snow, however, she'll be in the barn. Salted roads areunnecessary.
Like Sportypig says - - FLY AND RIDE if able,or stock up on booze while you wish the calendar ahead....

Here in Kansas it gets fairly cold too. I will ride until I can't take it anymore and as long a s no snow, sleet etc. It has been in the 30's in the morinings. It was 32 this morning. I ride 25 miles to work one way and on the way home it is around 50, which is great.
Only part that gets cold are my legs, gotta get some leather pants, have a leather jacket and that works good. I am retired special ops guy (Army) so I just deal with it. But I would rather enjoy it. And at 60 yrs old I don't tolerate it as well as I used too.
Well stay warm out there, but mostly stay safe. See ya on the road.
I'm on I-70 every morning near Fort Riley running at 75 MPH.
Wave and I'll wave back.
