Default 99 Sportster turn signal question

Once again I tried all the searches for my question but ended up with nothing so here goes... Sorry if this is a repeat quest.

The turn signals operate as they should but when the key is "on" Acc. or in run... the front signals are lit like parking lights but the rears are not! Is this normal operation? The front signals have duel element bulbs.... The rears have been worked on so I don't know what is suppose to be normal as one of the rears has a duel element bulb and socket and one has a newer single element bulb and socket.

Previous owner/s probably dropped the bike and replaced the signals with whatever...

Just need to know if the rear signals are suppose to be on like parking lights when not selected as a signal.... Thanks.

Short answer: No. The rear signals are just that, rear signals. There is a running light kit for 04-later models I know for a fact that makes the rear signals light upo for running lights (just boughtit for my bike, and LOVE it). Look around, though, there may be a kit for yours pop up later.

What is the model of your bike? On the nightster the turnsignal lights should act as running lights and brake lightsas well. On other models like my '05 XL1200C the turn signals are solely turn signals and the brakes light functions as a running light.

****just noticed the year at the top****

The fronts will act as running lights as well as signals. The rears are just signals so they will only light as signals. Both are supposed to be single filement bulbs on the rear of the bike. .

I have been searching the same thing and my local HD stealer told me there was a guy in their shop who made one for $70 w/o lenses. I am picking mine up on Wednesday and will install next weekend.

Let you know who it goes. Oh yeah he garuntees them for life. Not sure what that mean??

$70 for lights vs no lights and getting creamed from the rear end on a So. Cal freeway at night priceless.
