For a relatively inexpensive, accurate, easy to install, and good looking tach, see:

I have one on minee, and they are the cats pajamas!

No that's a cool little tach... Just what I'd be looking for if I needed a tach. Small form, could mount anywhere. Hell, might have to get one just because... Thanks for the link!!

No offense taken. Each to their own drummer.

this forum is great, mine came with the tach. i didnt buy it for that reason, and i wouldnt add a tach if the bike didnt come with it,for the hell of it ill go out tomorrow and see what speed im at and what the rpms are. ill also note the rpm when i shifted. i ussually go by feel. but im curious as to what rpms im shifting at, ill try it going hard and again taking it easy,

Nevets,

I agree on the tach exactly.....If I wanted one, it would be that one....nice thing about digital is you can glance at it and get yer ref, whereas a sweep dial takes longer to register in your mind. I also agree with it's design and the ability to glue it anywhere.

I'll keep an eye on their products...They claim to be developing a similar speedo/tach...If so, it could be easily mounted to the inside of my RKC windshield on one of the metal straps and offer instant heads-up style ref unlike the speedo down on the tank like I now have.....It could also be configured to simply unplug when I remove the shield for round town stuff.

P.S.....I really like the look of your pipes. Are those the V&H short shots?

Pretend you are HD and you are required to warranty your engines....And also meet EPA specs....Then you will understand the rather low electronically programed stock RPM limits.
But now we're not talking about stock limits.

Again, pretend you're HD. You already know the stock limits are safely low. So, you think to yourself, "Self? How can I get people to give me and my dealer another grand in cash? Why, convince people that if they do a Stage I they can get little more performance out their engine. And since the stock limits are set conservatively low, we can up them a little bit without damaging the powerplant, to give the suckers a little bang for the buck that doesn't hurt us, and makes them give us more money on a bike we've already sold. And, since the EPA doesn't give a fig about aftermarket changes, only to production models, we can do it without all that nasty hassling with the government."

That doesn't seem unlikely to me.
[/align]
it is unlikely . stage one doesnt change the ignition moduale all it does is change the exhaust, air intake and either mapping on fuel injection or jetting on carbs. the screaming eagle performance moduale for 2004 and up changes the red line from 6000 to 7000 rpms and is needed when using high lift cams like .575 and higher compression builds to get the maximum effect.

Yodaddy... Yes, V&H Short Shots... And Thanks..... Speedo/Tach would be great. I'd like to ditch the factory riser/speedo... get some t-drag bars... that would work in well... I'll keep looking for that option. Ride safe!!

I don't think anyone would argue that if your not racing; a tachometer is not a requirement. However, I would say it is still nice to have. It helps you know what gear your in; and if an up/down shift would be good.

That is why I designed the microTach. I didn't want another big gauge obstructing my view/bikes looks.

You must be a "pot-stirrer" with these ridiculous posts....okay.... I'm on to you now.... So .... In answer to your most recent stir.... If you need a tach on a Harley, then you aren't listening
Agreed, I can tell with my ears when I am in the plower range and when I am not.

It really aint that hard.
