Can they be red legally? I thought they had to be amber. I'll look at the led's too. Something brighter, with the smoked lenses, they just aren't as visable.
The rear turn/brake can be red. The front turn signals must be amber. BTW, the 1157 type bulbs (dual post)are used for turn/brake lights, plus they will act as running lights. The 1156 (single pole) are strictly turn/running lights.

I'm only running the rear red LED bulbs, I bought them at Autozone but I can not remember the name brand. They looked dim to me too, but everyone has said they are easy to see while I'm riding. Once I get my bike back from the dealer (1000 mile maint) I let you know what brand they are.

I too have smoked lens and didn't like the egg yoke look, so I went and bought the silver coated stealth bulbs and they look awesome. I went with the OEM amber for the front and back. Once installed they blended very well with the smoked lens look.
