Jon , did you turn the mix screw all the way in(seat it) before you brought it back out the 2 1/2/ turns ? and only 5 mi. at 37 degr. is not enough time to get it good and warm. mine would require some choke usage still at that point. the mix screw is spring loaded so it seems to turn hard, just do this firm but gentle. maybe this will help.
