Default Model Confusion

I've ran into a good deal on a what I'm being told is a 2000 Sportster 883 with screaming eagle performance system and a bunch of extras but there's something about the bike that doesn't match up wth the pictures I'm finding , The gas tank has two sides , two filler caps , it's huge but looks great also has a custom paint job and lots of other extras , also the thing is loud as hell , sounds great - Is there a model Number I can look for or something? or was there a model that year with the dual sided tank as an option or is it probably custom , the guy that has it doesn't know.

That tank isn't original. Those are flatside tanks which never came on a sporty. The good part is that there is a bigger fuel capacity with flatside tanks. Do you have pics?

If previous owner can't offer any help, you can always do a VIN# check to find out the particulars on the bike. From your description, it sounds like someone put a gas tank that is something other than stock.

Check the title and the federal sticker on the downtube. The date of manufacture will be at the top of the federal sticker.

Here's a few I shot on the phone , they were better than I thought

Eagle

What stage do you think that is? loud as hell.

Tank , Doesn't show it well but there's another filler cap on the right side

Rear

Side

As you can see it the extras most folks would want , sissy bar , screaming eagle , shield , forward controls , When I first spoke with the guy he said it had been sitting for about three months and there was no oil under the bike matter of fact no oil in the general area it was sitting and the bike was dusty as hell but it fired right up , 19,000 miles and 7 years old think it's a good deal at 3,500? thanks for the opinions folks , much obliged.
