Default Michelin tires

Anyone here run the new Michelin tires Harley recently started pushing?

Big fat nail in my rear Dunlop and decided to try a new set of these Michelin 'commanders' I think they are. Dealer tells me they are very sticky and should last long time. Dunno. anyone?

Sticky tires are sticky because they are a softer compound. Softer tires wearout much faster than more harder ones. I have a Corvette and the low profile tires handle great but the price you pay is about 22000 miles and they are bald as a newborn babies butt. Check the tread wear number on the side wall of the tire and compare it to the Dunlops.

I stay with the Dunlops. I agree with the theory that stickier (softer) tires wear out faster than harder tires. Dunlops have never caused me a problem so I really don't see a need to experiment.

Michelin (at least car tires) seem to last forever. I'd be interested to see how they are on a bike.

Yes, give us a report in a few months. I'd like to know how the Michelin tires wear. I was satisfied with the Dunlops, but due to the strike I couldn't get the size tire I needed. So, I switched to Metzeler tires, they are more sticky than the Dunlops, and it looks like they are gonna last longer. I'm VERY happy with the Metzeler tires.

Way to go labor union, you just lost a customer with your strike.

I ended up with the Michelin Commanders - I've only put on roughly 100 miles since I picked it up last week but they feel great on the highway at higher speed - great mannersup around 70 mph and above. They don't feel much different than the Dunlops around town and at slower speeds. They were about same price as the Dunlops.

I'll keep an eye on wear and report back. Although with winter settling in darned quick here in New England, I'm afraid I wont have much to report until late spring..... I'm getting depressed - and I've been riding....

I've used michelin's for years on dirt bikes, they last forever and provide the best grip.

I've been planning on checking out their street tires when it's time.
