Default at the stealer today...

was checkin out the nightster and gotta couple questions.
1 you guys that own em are you satisfied or wishing you got a dyna now that you had it a while?
2 I understand 2 up not so good but will some progressive heavy duty shocks aleviate this for couple hour rides and around town
stuff? Our combined weight is around 310 and we are both in athletic shape.
it must be the bars but i found the bike I sat on to be very comfy with foward controls. Seems like there was more room than the softail standard I sat on. The other sportsters were cramped for my 6' body and so was the softail. My 1st choice is to get a pre-owned dyna wideglide but This nightster is just cool as can be. A new one with modifications is within the cash budget (the wife would love that this will be less money than planned). Now for my concern... Will she 5'1" 110lbs hate the ride. She does prefer sports cars to big comfy luxury cars if that helps.

When I had my Sportster I thought I would would only be riding 2-up with my wife for short trips. Once my wife started riding with me more and we started taking longer trips with friends I realised we needed a bigger bike. The Dyna rides better has more room for my wife and I, and 96 ci motor allows me to cruise at touring speed without having to upshift and downshift like I had to do on the Sportster. Also the 6 speed trans is great for highway crusing.

Yeah I had a feeling that this may happen as well. It could go the other way and she may not ride at all after the 1st time or two. The nightster just has that " turn back an look as you leave the garage" that I don't feel on the superglide. The superglide is for me the most logical choice but lust tends to trump logic for me sometimes. In my price range I seem to lust after an older 2001-2003 wideglide or the nightster. Common sense says I should buy the superglide like the one in your signature there.

I think if your cramped on the sportster you may be bigger than the 300 lbs this guys is asking about.
I ride 2 up with my wife a lot shes 115 im 165 we have a mustangvintage 2up seat and a padded sissy bar, also have the progressives and a windshield. (she needs this stuff to be happy)We have gone over 300 miles a day on occasion and 100 to150 miles most weekends just for fun. She says she has no trouble at all with the bike. I say go for it, the engine has all the pulling power you need and the rides not bad at all. If you were 2 heavier people I could maybe agree with the comments on this page so far. I think if you are weighed in around 300 theres no issue. Heck I bet theres 300 lb guys riding the sportster solo on these forums now...

An edit: I have a sportster custom not a nightster, I am speaking from my knowlege of a custom.

That's what I'm sayin. I got a small bike because I like the idea of a smaller, lighter more agile "fun" bike. If I were to be riding 2up a lot Id definitely have a bigger bike.
