What should a motorcycle look like in your opinion? It's very subjective, but the thing that draws me to the sportster whenever I look at the new bikes is the look. Seems like it looks like a bike should. I don't like the looks of some of the more expensive harleys. Anyone like the look of another bike better than the sportster?

scrappy883R: Yeah; that's the one! Like the black motor and dual discs up front. The newer rubber mounts are nice looking, but jeese, they weigh as much as an FXR! I had the vibes pretty much under control on my '01 with a 1200 build-up (100hp/88ftlbs), bar end weights and poly risers...it just wasn't a good choice for two-up so I sold it and got my FXDXT. The 883's are also the best candidate for performance work; their heads are a better starting point for porters like HQ than the 1200 heads...what would really work for me is an 88" 883R.

Does a Sportster look like a bike should? It depends what model and what's been done to it.
I thinkmy 883R (withblack paint, black engine, wide flat-track style handlebar, mid-mount controls, no windshield, no fairing, no floorboards)looks almost exactly like a bike should look. The only thing that isn't quite right is the fatness of the rear fender and tyre, which I think look more cruiser than sportstercompared with the narrower fender and tyre on the 1976 XL 1000 that I owned a few years back.
