Congrats on the RK. I hope to own one someday myself. Too bad several cars get better gas mileage than the RK, but it's still worth it.

Of course with any bike mileage will vary depend on individual riding style and road conditions, but here is a thread dealing with fuel economy on the RKC's with IDS.
https://www.hdforums.com/m_2142369/tm.htm
Most in this thread reported an increase in mileage with IDS, and they are getting around 44 MPG. While just 'cruising' some of them are getting up to 48 MPG.
My RK gets 44 - 46 MPG tank after tank, while my Softail under the same conditions gets right at 48 MPG. My 2005 Sportster (running higher lift SE cams which flow more fuel) averaged right at 50 MPG. My Dyna WideGlide (EVO) averages right at 45 MPG.
Mileage for any of the Harley's (even the larger touring models) can be excellent, but it depends on how you ride them. If you 'ride them like you stole them' (as I often see people mention), or feel the need for some reason to do full throttle runs frequently, it will be reflected in the mileage you get.

Welcome to the two-bike world, YodaddyKeith. The DMV and insurance company loves me now that I can support two of them, but my wife ain't so sure. Hang on to that Sporty, though. Having the RK with that big wide seat, huge windshield, and the cargo capacity of a C-141 is nice. But the fun factor isn't quite up to what that Sportster provides. Biggest problem is "Which one to ride today?" Enjoy.
