Default Are leaking rocker covers covered by the factory?

Do I have to pay to replace those paper gaskets on my leaking rocker covers? I went to the dealer and they said it would cost me $180.00 to replace them.

Not if it still under warranty. The only thing you should be paying for is gas and oil.

DIY - from what I've read in the tech/DIY sections, it's easy and a beer drinking job - mabe an hour or two depending on how **** you get about polishing things before putting them back together

Order the parts from Zanottis, save about 20-25% on the gasket costs, or better yet get a Cometic gasket set, then do it yourself. Its not a hard job.

it is a very easy job if you have any mechanical skills at all. The torque specs are here on the site somewhere just search for them. Or better get a service manual. Just pay close attention to how it all comes apart. The hardest part for me was getting the old paper gaskets off. They were pretty stuck and I don't own a gasket scraper.

Paper gaskets? What year bike do you have? Sporties have come with metal spring gaskets for a number of years now.

My 2001 has paper gaskets and they leak like a sive. Made an appointment next week since I dont have a garage to work on it myself.

I replaced mine, cost me £11 ( about $18) The paper gaskets were replaced by the one piece metal in 2002 as far as I know.

Click here for torque settings https://www.hdforums.com/m_103771/mp.../tm.htm#103992

My 2000 had paper gaskets, leaked under warranty and were replaced with more "poopy" gaskets that leaked again. Use quality parts, do the job once.
