Default Flame from the exhuast

I was out riding tonight and a "Red Dog" motorcycle came to the light next to me. We took off and he kept in front of me and when he shifted blue flame came from the exhuast. It was really sweet looking. Especailly cause you could see it, being night time. My question is, im guessing it was running rich. But just how rich would it have to be running to get that effect?

The general consensus here is that orage flames are rich and blue flames are lean. Eithe way it sounds like he needs to tune his carb a little more.

He was running excessively lean! Blue inticates heat!I trust you like riding your sporty more than you'd like replacing melted pistons, burnt valves, exc.
