I think an opinion on a Sportster would be ok

I doubt they would be willing to give up info to anyone on the interweb....

Too bad 1%'s dont' use the interweb much or we could get some first hand info.

If you are really that interested you should go to one of the clubhouses (that you may or may not know exist in your area) and ask them some questions. You may wanna have proof in advance that you are not a cop....

Their just bikers like the rest of us, they just happen to be members of the worlds largest1%er club.
I've seen and heard alot of good deeds by these guys around here. Just a few weeks ago a buddy was out in western Pa and got a flat. He called the local H-D dealership. They told him they couldn't help him they were closing in ten minutes. As he hung up his cell a couple of angels roll up. They called the dealer back. The dealer was there in 15 minutes taking him back to the shop & installing a new tire.

I've been to a lot of rallys and have run into a bunch of 1%ers over the years. I've seen them riding everything Harley makes, including baggers. Lot's of the older guys are riding baggers as a matter of fact. The sportsters were run to chop back in the 70's so it was a favorite for the guys riding customs. Lots of the club guys were riding customs back then so you saw a lot of them. Seems to me that all the early pictures of Sonny Barger are on a sportster.

in the book i read by him, he said that if they started the club these days, they'd probably be riding hondas, etc because Harleys have become way too expensive...
and here's here's a quote from a newerinterview:
SB: "At the present time I own a Road King. I rode an RT for 15 years, but they don't make them any more, so."
interviewer: "I understand that you're not a big fan of Harleys, if you weren't going to ride a Harley what would you ride?
SB:"I would probably ride a BMW or a Honda ST 1100. The Harleys are getting better every year, but they're still junk. I mean I bought my wife a brand new 2000 Dyna Glide Sport and it goes into a speed wobble at 85 and I've done everything that I can do to get it out. I'm a good mechanic, I've followed their directions, we took it their shop, they've done work and it still wobbles on her. The factory tells us to change the shocks. Now why should we buy a brand new motorcycle?"
