Not that I like cruising at 10mph, I just wish I could without having to choose between the following:

1. Feather the ridiculously heavy clutch.
2. Don't feather the cluth but be shimmied all over the seat because of the lurching of the engine.

But since I do have to make a choice, I go with #1.
I don't know if you've done Stage 1 yet, but if you do get a goodStage 1 setup, it helps with the lugging. I gained enough low-end torque my Sportster can actually run around 2,000-2,200 now without lugging -- in any gear. Of course anything above that isn't lugging either.
You're right. I haven't done Stage 1. Thanks for the info. It's one more reason to get Stage 1 done on my bike.

Sunking - Stage 1 or (Harley Tax) is the upgrade of your air cleaner and pipes to be more free flowing and either a carb rejet or an EFI remap (depending on Sportster year). HD cannot sell the bikes new with these mods because of emissions requirements.

Stage 1 is the first level of 3 factory engine upgrades. It includes less restrivtive exhaust, higher volume air cleaner, tweeking of the engines computer or fuel management.

Not sure what Stage 1 is. Can you explain?
Stage 1 is having a 1200cc Sportster with higher performance mufflers, a high flow air cleaner/filter, and a fuel manager or rejet depending on if you have a fuel injected or carburetor sporty.

Stage half (1 / 2) is having the same as above on an 883cc Sportster.

EDIT: LOL dang you both already answered. Nevermind then...

You may wear out your clutch hand, but you won't wear out the wet clutch.
Don't count on that. After 26,000 miles, my hand is fine. Clutch is FUBAR!
