My wife rides a 2001 Sporty, done up nicely with more to come. Anywho, one of the things that annoys me is that damn ugly riser cover thingy on the frontend. From what I understand and have seen, it houses relays or something like that. What's the solution for eliminating it? Do I need to re-wire the whole bike?

You must be talking about the chrome cover that sits on top of the risers, you can get regular risers in different length, the dummy lights and speedometer wiring harness run behind the cover, you shouldn't need to redo the wire but you may have to reroute them.

How and where did you relocate the wires? Or did you just eliminate the "idiot lights"?

 

I have been going over this one again and again....on my sister's 883 they just get stuffed into the back of the headlight housing....on my 1200C, we had to get creative. The wires that connect to them are for the switch housings, not the idiot lights. Even after scrapping the speedo and dum-dum indicators I still had two bigass deutch connectors in there....only real solutionsare touse smaller connectors that you can hide in the bars, use risers that you can run wires through, or just deal with the ugliness and leave them somewhat exposed. I prefer one of the first two.

Definitely wanna ditch them lights and the speedo though....you should see the MONSTER connector them effers plug into!
