Default cleaning polished aluminum covers

A bit fed up with the polished aluminum covers that I'm thinking of chroming everything.
It takes too long, much longer than chrome, even with metal polish.
Any advice which might help?

I wound up buying a couple of cans of satin black and gloss black Rustoleum high heat paint,I painted my rocker covers, primary cover, cam cover, pipes, etc.(you get the picture) Had I taken my time a little more it would have come out even better.Much easier now for cleaning and I can touch up the paint at anytime for that brand new look(well almost)

I haven't repainted (except the pipes ) in about two years so it's starting to get a little banged up now.
The other side looks better

What carburetor is that? Looks like a S.U. carb to me.
