Default Engine Guards/Highway Pegs?????

I was wondering what do you all think about engine guards and highway pegs on a Sportster.

I am thinking about getting some for my trip 280 miles...

Does it take away from the look of the bike etc.

I have an engine guard and highway pegs mounted on it. Love the look and the comfort is there when I need it. I tend to cramp up now and then and it's nice to be able to stretch out. I'll see if I can post some pics this weekend if needed.

I have the black engine guard on my bike, it looks real nice imo. I had hwy-pegs for it but they were starting to rust and look like sh*t (HD not using stainless bolts ftw) and they looked a little goofy sticking out the sides, so I took them off. Pic of the engine guard in my Sig.

I have the highway pegs on mine but not the engine guards. It doesn't take away from the bike. I like them because I get cramped up really easy using the mid pegs.

I prefer the look without, but considered getting some when I almost dropped the Sporty practicing some tight manuvering. I knew I might get into trouble when the instructions suggested wrapping the engine guards in rubber hose to minimize damage WHEN you drop your scoot.
They are easy to add and take off, so try-em seems like you can get them for $100 or so (some with some rash)
The only one who has to like your bike is you.

I've got a lindby custom, I was thinking about adding highway pegs then a weld failed. Now I got to send it back to get a new one. I think the bike looks leaner and longer without it,but it looks good when I got my bags and sheild on. So I guess I'm undecided.
