You obviously havn't spent a winter in northern Alberta.
Spent 9 'winters' living in Fairbanks, AK, and 1 in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.

Is that close enough?
And your quote "Even in the winter you seldom go more than a week or so with conditions that don't allow riding." still applied when you lived there?

I doubt it, winters in Fairbanks are pretty severe. Drops to -35 below and can stay there for weeks on end, or get even colder. Fairbanks is hardcore; highs around 100 in the summer with over 24 hours of sunlight on soltice, to around -80 below in the winter with almost no daylight. I just put my scoot away yesterday, probably won't ride again till late April.

I would hate to deal with months of snow like some of you do. It does snow here, but not all that often. This picture was taken last Feb, from myoffice at the house, just a couple of hours before I headed out on the bike from Nashville to Birmingham (a little over 200 miles).

I won't lie, that was a COLD ride, and somewhat dangerous with the ice still on the road in places.

I like riding in the winter, but less than 40 degrees and it is not so great. Here in northern Utah we get a lot of 20-30 below zero weather, not so good. But we can have good (40 + degrees) weather in November and again in late February. I just ordered a new pair of lined gloves from Fox Creek. I'll let ya kow how they work out.

All the conversation here is the main reason my wife and I no longer live in Michigan.

No winterization here. I'll ride as long as there's not snow/slush on the road.

Don't plan on winterizine mine ( first year with a HD in the driveway). Plan on riding whenever the roads are dry.
I have a couple of quads I keep at the lake. They just live under a tarp most of the winter. Nothing special done at all. I might be there every other month during the winter. They fire up first time and have had no issues in 6 years.
