Default Do Brighter bulbs really help ?

I have just started to drive some at night with my 00 1200-C. The bright lights seem to work pretty good, but when Iput it ondims, then it's just to dim. I dont get much light on the sides of the road. I have the headlight addjusted about as high as I can go.
I was told that a High-Output Halogen bulb will help, he cald it a H4 and said they are about $15. Would this really help? if so how much? Will they help much when Im on dim? Can they be to hot, or draw to much power? Do any of you have them, and could you let me know what kind to get?
Thanks for any advice you can give...Gary.

I replaced the stock one with a Silverstar and yes,it made a big difference. It also helps to make sure the headlight is properly aimed.

I switched to the Silverstar bulbs earlier this year and they are much brighter. However, the downside is that they are not a "vibration rated" bulb. I'm now on my third, and last Silverstar. The first 2 bulbs each lasted about 3 months before blowing the highbeam element. When this one goes I'm switching to a vibration rated H4 PIAA Superwhite bulb. They are about twice the price of Silverstars $35 - $40, but should last much longer, they draw less amps and run cooler.

Do you know what wattage(s) is the H4 PIAA Superwhite bulb?

Thanks...

When talking about bulbs, wattage is only relevent when comparing how much power a bulbdraws. Light output, is measured in Lumens. For instance, for home use you can now buy a"Compact Florescent" bulb that puts out the same amount of light (Lumens) as a 100w incandescent bulb but it only draws 26w of power.

I don't recall the actual numbers but the PIAA bulb had about the same output lumens as the Silverstar bulb but the wattage was comperable to a stock bulb. The Silverstar draws more wattage than the stock bulb and runs hotter.
