Hi Members, Am looking atbuying a 1996 1200 sporty, am cocerned at how many miles it has done...85000 miles....it has had no attention to the motor. Wondering if it is getting close to needing a rebiuld, it runs fine and does not use oil. Any help Appreciated. Cheers Baldy

Well the EVO motor is a strong. reliable, motor well cared for can go' forever'.That being said i'll bet you can find one with a fraction of the miles for the same price. What ever that is.

It may contine to run strong to 150,000 or it maybe need a rebuild at 100,000 miles. I wouldn't take the risk unless the price is very good on it. Too many low mile sporties you can find. The good news is that rebuilds are cheap and easy as long as it's the top end.

I got my 03 anniversary Sportster with only 2700 miles for 5 grand! I would keep looking, something better will come along, especially this time of year
