I'll second that. I've been to many concerts in my life and I have to say that Metallica would put on the best and longest concerts. One time they didn't have anyone to open up for them and they played hard core music all themselves for 3 or 4 hours.

It was great (all OLD Metallica of course)

 

In your line up I vote for Metallica but you are missing the essential rock band of all time... SPINAL TAP! oh uh I mean LED ZEPPELIN!

 

I don't like Metallica but I do side with them on them losing revenue from downloaded music. I don't understand the whole "they are rich anyways so who cares if you steal from them".
Sorry for the preaching, I just never understood that. Oh and yes I have downloaded music, just not any Metallica.

 

i downloaded all of metallicas music on purpose after lars cryed like a little biatch..i didnt consider it stealing because i already bought every single cd they ever made..they got there monies worth out of me long ago..i wanted all of the music on my hard drive(thats before i figured out how to rip a cd to my hard drive)i wanted all of it so i could compile my favorites to one cd..i really dont listen to metallica to much anymore..they really put a bad taste in my mouth..

 

How about a band that actually made an album in the 21st century?

 

anyone heard of The Black Keys? its not really the same style but the music is amazing.

MHO concerning the four you have listed:

AC/DC is THE hard rock band - open power chords through a Marshall stack. I have been rocking to them since their first album and still love that band. I have seen them live many times and they still kick ***.

Metallica's first four albums - thrash metal and wonderful. The black album was a collection of radio-friendly songs that weren't worth listening to for me. Nothing of interest since then. Soldoutica.

ZZ Top is awesome, more blues-based Texas rock than hard rock, but I might be splitting hairs. Their early stuff is incredible.

Def Leppard had a couple of okay albums (High n' Dry, Pyromania), but really jumped the shark after that. They are one of those "metal" bands from the 80's that did not deserve the title.

 

Looks like there are some kids in the forum. I like the bands listed (except Metallica) and I'm only 40.
Most all modern rock is crap in my opinion so it's good to see someone listing some quality bands (again except for Metallica).
