Default Wobble on the hwy?

I have had a wobble on the hwy since I bought the bike. Nothing major but just kinda feels like it is tring to go into a speed wobble. Only happens at 65-70+. I am not sure if it is just the wind or not. It isn't as bad some days then others it is kinda scary. I have checked my tire pressure and just looking for tips as to what it could be. Also could it just be normal and me being new just seems worse than it is? Just want to make sure I am safe and not going to learn what a tank slapper feels like.

Thanks,Kyle.

I read this in a book and then checked it our for myself... it helps...

As per the book, a lot of the high speed and interstate wobble is YOU. Loosen your hands and relax a little more. That took out 50% of my wobble. It's natural to get tense going "fast" and with all the big rigs, 90 mph zoomers going by, etc.

Very true mrb302. When I first got my sporty, I had same issue with wobble at high speed. Now I don't notice anything. Just have to get used to riding at higher sppeds, until you are relaxed.

My way of checking for wobble is to take my hands off the bars for a second and see what happens. I don't think this si the recommended way of checking, but smooth riding without hands or hand on the bars points to everything being alright...

How many miles on the bike? It could be a stearing bearing problem, but without knowing how many miles are on the bike,it's impossible know the likelyhood of that being the problem. How is your front tire wear? Is it even, excessive, etc.

Buddy of mine had what you describe on his Goldwing, it was the way the front tire was wearing. Kind of scalloped if you looked real close. New front tire solved it.

Cool thanks for the advice. I was thinking it was rider error. I did notice if I relax and just focus on down the road it doesnt seem as bad. When I think about it or it happens once and gets my nervs going it seems to get worse. I just thought I would ask and make sure there wasnt something wrong.

It isn't bad but just feels like to me what the start of a high speed wobble would feel like. Most times I get nervous and slow down. When I run 65 or below no wobble at all. I will just try to relax and see what happens. Thanks for the advice.

Kyle.

A tire out of balance will cause that to a degree, it will show up at the same speed, that indicates a Tire balance or rim issue.

rear wheel out of alignment will do it too. 98% of front end wobble, vibration or tire wear is caused by a misaligned rear or some other rear problem. an out of balance rear tire will cause vibration at the ftront wheel.

Tires without tread that are parallel to the wheel itself tend to feel less "twitchy" as well. And Deathgrip is always a no no. Relax while you are riding. Deep breaths if necessary...
