Default sporty oil filter question?

After you drain the oil, if you disconnect the spark plugs and turn the enging over a few times do you think the oil would get pulled out of the filter? Just a thought!

nope, oil is only pumped into the filter, it's not sucked out. Turning the engine over will only pump more oil into the filter until air gets into the pump and it cant pump any more, and you'll still end up with a filter filled with just as much oil as before. Simplest thing to do, is pull the filter off quick and have a rag handy.

If all you're trying to do is not get oil everywhere I just use a piece of cardboard to catch most of the runoff. If you're trying to get all the old oil out, try sloshing a quart or so of keorsene everyso often in the oil tank; that helps removes sludgebuildup.

i drained the oil then sent a nail through the top of the filter. turned it 1/2 turn and drained the oil from the filter through the nail hole. caught it in a bottle then spun the filter off, and no mess. my engine has the black finish on it and it took a while to get the oil cleaned up from last time. brian i

Two liter pop bottle cut out to cradle the oil filter works well also. Just don't forget to leave the cap on the bottle. DOOOOHHHH

a simple soda bottle? never thought of that!` ill try that next. i use the k&n filter with the 17mm bolt head right on the end. super easy to remove and theres not much room for a wrench in there but i used the chain type on the factory filter,
