Default Right hand grip replacement

Any help on how to get my thottle cables off, and then back on again so I can slap on my new grip? A friend said that I need a fourth hand tool, but I've only found these for bicycles. Maybe they all work the same, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks!

It seems that simple. Can you ask about the fouth hand tool? I just don't want to stretch out my throttle cables.
Thanks.

Roll the boots up off of the adjusters. About 4-5 inches down past where the throttle cables go into the grip. Take a sharpie marker and mark the threads below the adjuster screw stop nuts. Loosen the adjuster screw stop nuts, spin the adjusters until the throttle cables are loose enough to remove them from the grip. Be careful, the ferrules on the end of the cables are not attached and will fall out when you remove the throttle cables. Install is the opposite, put throttle cables in new grip, spin adjusters and stop nuts until stop nuts are firmly seated on the marks you made before loosening them.

Flatlander has it right. I change mine back and forth from HD skull grips, to some wicked sharp Impaler spike grips for show. Pretty easy to do if you mark where the nut locations are on threads. Once you do it, it won't seem so bad the next time.

I just used needle nose pliers, not the vice grips and got it to work fine. Those cables are pretty tough so you would REALLY have to work those cables to fray or break them, I think. That being said, if you loosen up the throttle adjustments to give yourself as much slack as possible, you really shouldn't be "pulling" on those cables, you should just be bending them a little to get the ferrule unseated and reseated.

I've changed out the grips on my Sportster and Softail and the only real buttclencher in the process was when I dropped one of the ferrules during one of the changes. Those suckers are small and they bounce, so just be REAL careful not to lose track of them.
