Default How To Install Wing-Tips On Side Covers

OK..I painted my side covers to match the bike then I wanted something there to brighten it all up.So,I ordered a set of Wing Tips from the local Stealership ($40.00) and what follows is the install.Enjoy.....
Picture #1 is the before pic.
Picture #2 is the Install Template that comes with the wing tips.
Picture #3 is the Template in place with a wing tip in back ground.
Picture #4 is the after picture.

This is an easy job, only took about 15 mins to complete. You place the templates on the covers and line them up with the holes in the covers (you can do this with covers on or off the bike..though its easier off than on) then tape them in place. Now test fit the wing tips to see how the go and where..note there alittle spring to them so you stretch them just a bit.Next pull off the tape on the back of the wing tips then CAREFULLY place them on the side covers.Thats it..Good Luck>>>David

Very nice!

I love the flat dull look of the denim paints, and prefer very little chrome, but I do sometimes wish I could dress up my sportster... Just would not look right on my bike. Hmmmm? Now that you got me thinking... If I paint the side covers olive pearl denim to match my bike, then I could put flat black wing tips on... That might be cool... Thanx for the idea...LOL

There are alot of paint options that will adhere to the wing tips..look at your local auto parts shop in the auto paint section...just be sure to clear coat it all so its sealed and protected.I may,at a later date go back and add some color to the wing tips back ground area leaveing the raised parts bright.>>

Thats my plan exactly this winter, I am going to fill the background areas wih gloss black so only the raised area are bright, I think it will match the engine paint theme.

Sounds like a good plan..mine was originally an 883 so the all silver looks similiar to my engine. But,the more I look at it the more I think color matching the back ground to the bike co;or is the thing to do...but,we'll see.

Wow, when I got the wingtips for my bike, there wasn't a template. Just line it up, stick them on. Seems like a bit of overkill to me. But that's cool. It doesn't appear they've raised the price to compensate for the extra install instructions.

Tell me how to make them bigger..or even how to get them to show in the post rather than in a seperate window..and I'll make it so.
