Oh, sorry, rob i, I meant kms per hour (I'm in Canada, and have a metric speedo). Not that I've ever gone that fast, but I did get it up to 160 kms for a few seconds (which is about 110 mph) before Ichickened out (lots of straight, flat roads with no trafficnear where I live, otherwise I'd never have done it). It could definitely have gone faster, though, as it was still happily accelerating when I eased off on the throttle. The speedo has a max of 220 kms. My Sportster's a 1200, by the way.

You are the man Adam! I bet everyone said you were crazy and tried to talk you out of it. Have fun sportys are a blast to ride, I had two of them. Welcome to the brotherhood!
thank you very much
I imagine your only regret, is not having bought one sooner. I turn 32 in November, and just bought my first bike in September. My only regret is not having done it 15 years ago. Enjoy, and keep it shiny side up.
Yes, life gets so busy. Both my boys are now in college, so have a bit more time now, plus a lot less $$$

Crazy?!......The crazy ones don't own a bike!
I'm 54....This is my 12th bike.....Starting at 15 I had a bike continuously till 1987..20 straight years and 11 bikes where that isALL I rode unless the roads were iced over....In 87I sold my GSXR1100 and stayed off them 20 years until yesterday when I brought home a new 1200C sporty.
After 10-20 miles it was like I had never been without one....It all came back today-all the instincts-all the reactions-all the thrill, so I pulled the baffles and took it for another 80 mile ride.....Just got in an hour ago at midnight, and I'll fork that beast at daylight and do another 200 miles tomorrow....Then again sunday.
No, you ain't crazy, just a little late, so get out there and make up for it!
In about 6 months once the sporty is paid off I'll ease down and get the Rocker C, then keep the sporty for around town stuff.
Enjoy yourself you old fart!

Congrats! I've been riding less than a year, 43 and will be 44 in December...and approximately 11,000 miles later I'm now a happy Sportster owner, trading in my Honda Shadow 750. I owned the bike eight days before I dropped it off for the 1k service and toput on ordered parts. 800 miles in 8 days. When I get back from vacation in the Pacific I'll pick it up and ride some more! Be careful, and have fun!
