Default Sportster Hero Travels from Chicago to Arctic Circle, Alaska

Here's an inspiring Sportster story. A guy from Chicago takes a solo trip up to the Arctic Circle in Alaska on a stock Sportster.

He did an online photojournal of his trip and put it on the web. It's phenomenal. I have nothing but respect for the guy. He's so easygoing and cool even though had a lot of difficulty on the trip and spent nights sleeping on top of rest area picnic tables. A true Sportster hero.

After reading through it, I couldn't help but share this on HDForums with my Sportster buddies. I sent him an e-mail after reading it and told him I was inspired. He wrote back and is a great guy. Everybody take a read through his story and let's send him e-mails asking him to join the forum!

Here's the link to his photojournal:

And a couple pictures from the site:

Glad you took the time to read through it. It makes me want to go out and do the same, but it doesn't make sense to start a trip to the Arctic Circle in late September!

I want to thank you BP for posting this link.

I'm generally a lurker on this board as I disagree with most of what I read about owner's use and modification of their HD's. I'm not a chrome polisher or loud piper or fringe and rivet kind of guy, nor do Iride muchwith them. I've never ridden to a bar or a rally. To each their own, but mygoal is a trip JUST like this guy in your link took. Many thanks for linking to his blog. I'm still reading my way through it.

Have you read about:

Whoa. Pretty amazing. I was also quite impressed by the Alaskan voyager (2 roundtrips from Chicago is pretty impressive). I'll be happy if I can just go up the coast from So Cal to Vancouver or maybe Whistler. [8D]

REPOST!!!!

Well, it has been over a year ago since I first posted this, and many of you weren't even members yet, so I guess we will let it slide this time.

But that is a heck of a journey on a Sportster.

I lived in Fairbanks, AK for a number of years, and took the Alaska Highway up there and back many times.

Fun trip for sure.....

I can't imagine more adventure than those "174 countries" people. Wow. I read their packing list online. My bike barely has enough storage space for insurance cards and registration papers!

I'm just kiddin' with you, and you didn't steal any thunder from me..

In fact, I had almost forgotten about that webpage, and just read about his trip again...

It's an excellent article.
