Default FINE SCRATCHES ALL OVER THE BIKE

WTF! (now thats outta the way!) Ya know you do all you can to be extra careful cleaning your bike but it never seems to be enough. I use only the best products, cleaning utensils etc.. and somehow I managed to get these really fine (spiderweb fine) scratches on the Nightster. First I noticed a few on the mirrors at first I actually thought they were spider webs strung across the mirrors then I went to wash the bike and I found the same scratches on the swingarm. This blows!I use microfibertowels to wash the bike and Mr clean spot-freesystem to shoot the soap on the bike so I am not pulling dirt out of the bucket and scratching the bike.
I got to say the black finished parts are really soft on the Nightster and as I amfinding scratch easily. Time to get polishing!

The Vivid black has a really soft clear coat. I too use only microfiber and quality products and the tank is a swirl magnet!!!

What your seeing is fine scratches in the clear coat from dirt that is being picked up out of the wax.Its in/on those micro fiber rags your using and as you drag them accrost the paint..scratch!!! Get some "dough" from Meguirs to clean the fine dirt particles out of the wax before you wax and or clean extensively..that'll help the most. Good Luck...and...never buy a black car..those fine scratches will really drive you nuts then>

I'm not a fan of those 'microfiber' products, and have had problems using them on Black bikes and vehicles that I own.

I've even had problems using the microfiber towels on sunglasses.

Anymore I don't use anything except soft cotton (like an old 'broken in' t-shirt)..

is this on every part of the bike, or painted areas? I've seen on guitars where sudden tempurature changes while being stored can cause the paint to do this. pretty sure a motorcycles paint job should withstand this though.

This is the shiznit in paint care. It builds up a great protective coating, feels like silk to the touch and no swirrel marks. A buddy of mine uses it on his Ultra Classic and it looks amazing. You can also use it on all your chrome.

nope, thats just regular swirl marks from something rubbing on the bike. do you cover it at night? some covers are pretty harsh to the surfaces their supposed to protect.

well I hope you polish them out well, let me know what you used becuase I need to do it to my bike soon, as well as re paint both fenders.

Some really good products can be found at Griot's Garage. Everything I've ever bought from them is top notch stuff.

Turtle Wax makes a new premium grade rubbing compound that is golden... best I've ever used
