Default need help identifying my OLD sportster

Hey sportster PRO's. Its a XLCH

I need some help figuring out what year this bike is. My dad gave it to me and im trying to restore it so i can ride with him, but i would like to know the year before i start to tear it apart and not be able know what year to order the parts.........

HELP

Cross ref your VIN against the link data and that should give you a start. XLCH's began in 59 and elec start began in 67. Of course its hard to say for certain since its quite possible you have some parts from different years.

Good luck and keep us posted. That looks like a fun project with a great deal of potential.

Those guys will be able to help you identify it, as well as fix anything that comes up.

Later 60s early 70s. The front fender has been cut. The seat is not stock, I had one like it on my 64xlch. How does it run? Looks like it will be nice with a little cleaning.

68-72 based on what I see for gauges, the later style front fender, and front drum brake. It's an XLH, not XLCH.
