Anybody know if or how I can mount a classic horn, the chrome one that hangs down between the cylinders where the choke **** is on an 06 XL? I really like the looks. Am I going to have to fab something or is there a bracket I can buy?

You can get one from the dealer:
http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
I got one for my '05 883C (odd that the 1200C has them and the 883C doesn't).
Anyway, about $80 for the whole thing (horn, cover, mounting bracket to re-mount the horn and enrichener **** together, even new bolts and cable ties...). You have to lift the tank to get at the wiring for the old horn, and the install is pretty easy.
There's also a "high output" second horn you can get, to add to the horn you got instead of replacing it. A little pricier (why it's about $25 more I have no clue).
Good luck!

funny, I was just thinking how I could move the horn on my 1200c - thinking up in front of the engine, between the forks and the frame. To me, all it does is bobble around on the side of the engine and I'd like a better view of the engine - decisions, decisions - winter is begining, I have time to ponder and beer to filter through my liver and kidneys

Or, you can go with a different horn cover - some cool ones out there....
Or, you can filter more beer (just might have to join you on that one!)...
Myself, I've really been tempted to rig a couple of massive trumpet horns to be able to say "hello" to select cagers :-)

Dont even need a 12 step plan. Unplug the wires from the stock "honda" horn from between the frame downtubes, unbolt and remove the stock horn assembly, install the new horn bracket to the choke bracket, plug the new horn in. Thats basically it in a nutshell. The directions that come with the kit are pretty basic and straight forward.

no seriously, all drinking aside - I find it amazing how wonderfuly diferant peoples desiers are - some want their horn moved to the choke area, other's are thinking of hiding the bobbling shinny bit of chome and AIR HORNS - now that really would get the message across as I pull her into the school parking lot - laugh all you want, this is something I'm going to look into - Anyone done this? and I mean LOUD! like car swerving out of a Semi's way loud

I knew a guy back in the 1960's who was retired from the Coast Guard and he had a set of 18-wheeler air horns on his Harley. He always complained that no one ever saw him so he was bound and determined that they would HEAR him. Not sure how he mounted them or powered them, but if he was behind you and let it go, you'd swear there was a train in your immediate vicinity! Morale of the story? I KNOW it can be done!
