Default Opinions Please!....Roadtest Update

Hi
This is my first posting.
I am considering buying my first Harley (at the age of 49) and have found what I think is a great bike.
I,m planning to take it out for a test ride Friday as I have never ridden a Harley before! In fact I havent ridden a bike at all for about 5 years.
Although its a 2003 bike it only has 500 miles on the clock. I would appreciate any feedback on my possible purchase.
Thanks in advance.

Hey there, I'm no expert and I've only been riding (again) since May. The bike looks nice. I love my Sportster!! It is such a friendly bike to ride. My first bike was a sport bike. I hadn't riden a bike in 5 years myself when I got my seecond one. Good luck with the bike and I hope it works out.

It's a very nice looking bike. If the price is right, and just looking at it makes you drool, go for it.

With that low a mileage for a several years old bike, you might want to chamge the oils right away to be safe. Oil should be changed every year regardless of mileage and odds are it hasn't had 4 changes.

depending on the price, i don't see why it could be a bad buy. CHANGE THE OIL, that bike has been sitting. also check for rust!

Go for it! I bought my first Harley in May ( 02 883C ) Best move I ever made.
EVO engines are forgiving and bulletproof. I love my bike!

Definitely, go for it! I hadn't ridden in nearly 30 years, and got my '06 883 Custom in May... I have 7,000 miles on it so far, so needless to say, I LOVE it!

At some point (2 years?), I'll probably want to upgrade to a larger bike, but for now and foreseeable future, the 883 is an awesome machine!

Good luck, and ride safe!

Keith

P.S. - if you haven't ridden for sometime, sign up for the MSF riders training... best $$ you'll spend.

That thing with the seat (I have the same for long rides) and the W/S and those bars will be the cats pajamas when it comes to comfort, just dont make the same mistake I did with looks over comfort and put drags on it, is it an 883 or 1200? sounds like a good planned purchase, I bought my bike last april it was older 2000 and had 3800 more miles, but my dealers service guy lives by saying the 00-03 generation was the best generation of sportsters so far. Hows the price on it?
