RE: XL883 (lots of upgrades) or Stock 1200C
If I were you I'd go with more power. I have an 883C, and I love the bike. I just put new pipes on and a high flow air filter kit and not only do I love the sound, but it's more powerful. Now I am looking to purchase the 1200 upgrade kit though. If I could have afforded it at the time I would have just bought the 1200 Roadster outright, if you can afford the 1200, get it and do the customizing later. I've never had any problems keeping up with any of my friends I ride with, or attaining and keeping highway speeds though, so if somebody was telling you that, they're blowing smoke up your ****.

Thanks for all of the advice! I put the down payment on my new 2005 Chopper Blue Pearl 1200 Custom this weekend. I caved to peer pressure and bought the power. Plus, having chrome engine components is a bonus.
I've already started the customization process by ordering a Gunslinger Seat with blue stitched flames. Now, I'm trying to decide whether or not I am going to have screaming eagles or cycle shacks installed. Unfortunately, that will be the extent of the add-ons for a while.
Eric, where are you stationed? I spent four years at Pendleton as a 5811 (MP) with MWSS-372. There seems to be several Marines and former Marines on this site.
Thanks again for the advice.
