See sig pic...and I'm sorry, but if you can actually manage to get your leg caught in that belt from where you're riding....you got some serious issues.
Nah...no problems with those type of things. Just a problem with getting your pants caught in the belt and removing your leg from your body.
Beg to differ there SportyPig....I've had the belt guard removed for a long time now and riden' 2up, and it's never been an issue.NFK has a Custom model, so the feet would be all the way at the front of the bike & not even near the belt. Various women have ridden on the back of my bike with the bell bottom type pants with no problem. Not sure if NFK rides 2up or not, but if worried about a passenger, then make sure their pant leg is tight.
NFK, I've never had an issue with rocks or other debris getting in with the belt guard removed. Plus I think it lets you see more of the sprocket & rear wheel. IMO...It just doesn't clutter/block as much.....Kinda like on your pedal bike when you were a kid.
Yes, I was speaking of the passenger, not the rider. On my bike, with the stock pegs, I wouldn't let a passenger ride without the belt guard in place, unless I was "finished" with her.

Well, I just measured...From the side of my ankle on the passenger peg, and they would have to have atleast 7"s of material, (not including all the material already going around their ankle), blowing sideways, grabbed by the belt, and streched up under thetransmission part of the side coverto even get close to the grooves/teeth of the front part of the belt drive. Look again at 6066er's sig pic...there's 3" from the back of the cover where the belt goes to the sprocket at least and then the 4" or so from the leg/foot on the pegto the belt.
As I said, "on my bike." It's an 883L. Stuff is a lot more compact on the low models. But then, I also ride in shorts, which people say is crazy...to each his own.
