RE: Who's Tried to Shift into a non existing 6th gear

Hubby has an '05 Ultra and is constantly looking for 6th....he calls that the diamond gear....cuz if he hadn't put this diamond on my hand, he would have had the money to put the 6th gear in there.....He's says it was a good trade though.
Your husband says the diamond was worth sacrificing the sixth gear. What about you?

When he wants a 6th gear, he rides mine......the best of both worlds (almost) me and a 6th gear. (He will get one eventually.) I think we're both happier than pigs in poop.
RE: Who's Tried to Shift into a non existing 6th gear
It used to happen to me almost every time out on the highway - but now I just look at the tachometer - I know right where it revs in 5th at highway speeds 65mph+. Even so, I still look for 6th - - wishful thinking, I guess.
RE: Who's Tried to Shift into a non existing 6th gear
Happened to me all the time on the highway with my old '05 XL 1200c. The '07 Train I've got now has the 6 gears, so I don't have that problem anymore, but the bike doesn't like going in 6th unless I'm doing like 75...
RE: Who's Tried to Shift into a non existing 6th gear
My 1200L doesn't have a tach, so I can only judge the gear I'm inby the engine sound. Sometimes, depending on other sounds (ie. road surface, traffic), I'll just give it a try to make sure that I'm in top gear.
