Default Oil Capacity

Hello everyone..Great forum! I enjoy reading all the posts and have learned alot. I just changed the oil on my 2006 883 and put in a total of 3 quarts. I took the bike for a ride eveything seems fine. No oil spray, but when I checked it hot the oil was over the halfway mark on the dipstick. I read that most of you like to have yours in between. Sounds crazy but I have a tendency to have things be right on. Should I let some out or leave it alone till next time.

You'll probably be fine. That's usually where my oil level is immediately after an oil change. Then over the course of 5,000 miles it drops down to the level around a third above the add mark.
