Hello all

I have a 2018 Iron 1200 that I recently bought with a blown engine. I bought a 2021 883 Iron engine and did the complete swap. Tried to start the bike for the first time this morning, and idle immediately shot to 4500 rpm. I shut the bike off when it did not drop down to normal idle rpm. Idle is not erratic or jumpy at all - It is staying steady at 4400-4500 rpm. Tried to wait a few minute, and I tried again with the same results. Throttle cables are not sticking; butterfly is not stuck. I am thinking it is something electrical (as a vacuum leak causing that RPM would be erratic, right???).

Does anyone have advice on how to address this?

I have the entire 2021 883 parts bike, so I can swap the ECU over, but I will have to try that later today after work to see if it makes a difference. In the meantime, other ideas are very welcome.

Update. Ran home at lunch. Swapped the ecu and bcm - no change at all.

sprayed starting fluid on the intake - to - head gasket area - no change.

My error codes are:
p0031
p0051
p0118
p0134
p0154

b2151
b2156
b2161
b2176
b2210

I tried clearing the codes, no fix.
I tried turning the ignition on 10 second / off 10 seconds 4x’s, no fix.

anyone with an idea?

 

What do the codes indicate? Your Idle Air Controller (IAC) is what handles idle at startup, is is jammed open?
