Reasonable power of an 883
Some posts say the 883 lacks power. I'm not sure what people mean by that. Lacks power to what? compared to a 1200. To a V-Rod? To aSportbike? That makes sense. But how fast do people expect to go on their Sportster to consider it as a fast or slow bike.
Today, I was going 60mph for the first time on my '07 883C. It didn't seem to take my bike much effort to reach that speed. I started to find myself going faster than I should of, without even trying.
There was alot more throttleyet to be opened. Far enough power left for above normal speeds on any road or highway. I can't see why anyone on a cruiser bike needs to go that fast. Especially with a leg forward, laid back position. It isn't like you need to go over 100mph unless you are racing some sportbike and that exactly isn't the point of having a cruiser.
So again, where does a 883 lack reasonable power for safe, normal riding? Are earlier model 883s slower than later models tomake people comment on their 883slack of power. Are these riders 350lbs with their 250lb g/f on the back carrying a full set of luggage?. If you are carrying a very heavy load, then I understand more power may be needed, but if that isn't the case thenI truly cannot see why I would ever need to trade or covert my 883C for anything bigger or faster other than bragging rights and an insane need for speed or to race someone.. If I did, I'd just get a sportbike.
