Thanks for the responses so far and no, I do not plan on doing 100 mph wheelies LOL. I guess what I was trying to say is that I would like her to still hit 100 mph after the chain and sprocket conversion. I'll update the post with what I end up going with and the end results.

Edit: I'm running Racetech suspension front and rear already, so that parts sorted out.

The maximum speed limit on Californian freeways is 65mph and wheelies are illegal because with only one wheel on the highway you won't be in full control of the motorcycle. It sounds to me like you need to grow-up or buy a Yamakawahonduki sportbike and risk loosing your motorcycle licence.

Harley's are for responsible riders, not juvenile thrill seekers.
That's funny!

OP has a 2012 1200, so it already has the taller primary gearing. He's trying to figure out what final drive chain ratio he should use.

1991-2003 bikes, like mine, have the same primary gearing for 883 and 1200. That's why I mentioned he should take that into account when looking at the 21/48 sprockets I have on my 1991. I do not know what chain ratios were used on the 1200s that came stock with chains, as the 1991-2003 1200s came with belts. So, a 21/48 on his bike would be a bit taller than on my bike due to the primary chain ratio.

I hot rod all the time as well as sustained 85mph interstate riding. I strongly suggest, imho to run a final close to 3.61. I’m refraining from staying “883” gearing or “1200” gearing because they are quite different over the years from solid mount to rubbermount. I can tell you 3.61 is doable on the interstate 💯 And I can also tell you that 3.61 is perfect for hot rodding. It’s perfect for the 1/8 and 1/4 miles too.

Three sixty one 🙌🏽

I like what you have done, real nice job.
The only thing I would want with your riding style, is another rotor on the front.
If you want chain for chains sake, so be it.
But do't get a chain just to change ratios. There arefront pulley sizes available 28 to 32, and adaptable rears 61, 66, &70, and the primary engine sprocket to 38 from your existing 34. Lots to mix and match.

Good thing Gary put his 2 cents for the millionth time lol.

you might have better luck telling folks your final ratio Gary because last you said you had a 3.5x final ratio. Not too far from a 90s 983. Then you go bashing 883 gearing and it confuses folks including yourself 🤣

883 XLH Chain (21/48 sprockets) 3.66
883 Deluxe Belt (27/61 pulleys) 3.61
1200 All Belt (29/61 pulleys) 3.37

So it looks like the 883 Deluxe was right on your "sweet spot" at the time.
