Default Need some opinions

Hi I'm new to the forum and making out my winter project list I have a 2003 883 sportster I will be putting the 1200 kit in and I was wondering about thoughts on upgrading the ignition is it necessary and whats good? Also has anyone put a tank from the 04 to 06 sportsters on an 03 or earlier can it be done easily? I sure like the way the 04-06 large tanks look I think it would look good on my 03.

I don't believe you will need any ignition changes with the engine upgrade. It is typically not required unless you do a Stage 2 upgrade (cams). The 04 and up Sporties have a different frame than 03 and earlier so the tanks are not interchangeable. You might want to check on the net for an aftermarket Fat Bob tank that fits 03 & earlier.

even though the tanks are not "interchangeable" you can do it with a few easy mods to the bolt holes. if you get one you will see that the front both holes just need to be bent and the rear needs a snort bracket. If you can acquire one that is not from the HD shop then it will be relatively inexpensive too.

There are several aftermarket tanks that look just as good and are direct bolt on. as for the ignition, unless you plan on changeing the cams, not needed. I do suggest that you change both the cams and ignition. Dayna make an excellent one. if you do change it, get a single fire, you'll love the new sound. BTW, what 1200 kit are you going to do?

I was looking at the wiseco kit with jugs and pistons 10:1 compression. Is this a good kit?
