Actually HD markets a stage 4 for the 1200 sportster, but it's for a 2014 and newer.

Well I accidentally deleted the guys facebook messages so I guess im screwed on that end. Either way, he advertised the bike with Stage IV $2500 upgrade. All in all, I cant complain - I paid $4500 for the bike: 2008 with 15k miles. I dont think thats a bad deal either way.

That sounds like a very fair price for a very good looking bike. 15K on the clock is nothing, practically brand new!

And, even if it's "only" a stock 1200, that should be plenty of power, no need to go 1250/75. 2008 already has better "W" cams, and you may not gain much by putting (slightly) larger cylinders on versus the expense. If you had an 883 it would be a different story entirely.

Save your money and enjoy your new ride for a while. A rear tire looks like a good first upgrade.

4500 seems fair, I always liked the nightster, the stock seat is pretty hard, first thing i bought my wife was a mustang seat,

Congrats on the new ride. She’s a beaut Clark.

The 08 still has the ecu under the seat, it can limit the seat choices. If you’re hunting seats, search on ecu relocation first then decide.

New bike day is always a good day.

$4.5, 15K miles, green paint (rare)... stage IV or 100% stock, good purchase.

FWIW I had my '07 1200N since '07. Very dependable.
Three times to "look at":
1) The clips holding on the top of the battery cover metal side panel/ tin can come undone, there is an updated parts.
2) The fuse box, under that tin mentioned above, look at the fuses for water intrusion and apply some di-electric grease as preventative maintenance.
3) The motor mount, that mounts to the upper cylinder head, on the clutch side can come loose, retorque w/blue Locktite.

Again mine has been dependable and fun. Would buy again

Congrats.

PS "Modding", customizing your bike, is a non-treatable addiction, but good fun.
Fork springs and setting the front sag is a great first mod that improves the N.

What's everyone running for tires? I'm looking for a soft comfortable ride.

Tires will not make much of a difference in delivering a soft comfortable ride. That is more dependent on the suspension. See links to reports on front and rear suspension below.

That said, regarding tires, I like the Metzler 888's for their good traction and handling.

I'm running Pirelli Night Dragons, although I am not sure if they are still available. Softer compound for better stick.
