Help Me Decide Between These Two Sportsters
I'm going to make a purchase this week or next. I've narrowed it down to two:
Option 1:
2007 Sportster 883 Custom (Suede Blue / Vivid Black duotone)
Out the door price = $8,840 (Taxes & Title from HD Dealer)
5,000 Miles
Sundowner Seat
Low Sissy Bar w/ Bucket Backrest
Detachable Windshield
Rigid Leather Saddlebags
Auiliary Front Lighting (two additional lights flanking the primary headlight)
Bike has had the 1,000 and 5,000 mile services.
Option 2:
2006 Sportster 1200 Custom (Cobalt Blue / Brilliant Silver duotone)
Out the door price = $8,013 (Tax & Title from individual seller)
1,000 Miles
Low Sissy Bar & Standard Passenger Backrest
Bike has not had any dealer services performed yet
Please help me make a decision! Basically it's an accessorised-out 883C vs. a nearly stock 1200C with an $800 price differential. Sorry I don't have pictures of either.

I can see where this could be a difficult decision for someone. Do you like the blacked out engine and chrome cases on the 1200 or doesn't it matter to you? Personally I would go with the 1200.
If you have a bank or credit union that will allow you to do your own financing and you don't have to rely on the Harley dealer to do that for you, you can do some shopping and get a better deal than either of those. Plus, if you buy from a private seller you will save on sales tax right off the top.
I can also add to carpet dudes comments. I have an 05 1200 C and wouldn't trade for any 883 no matter if it was an 08 on the showroom floor.

Me too....I'm biased being that I own a 1200. I will say this....the complaints I've heard about both the 1200 and 883 with EFI is that everything you do to make the bike sound like you want is very expensive compared to the '06 carb bike for example: pipes, turning down the idol speed, etc.
They both sound nice....good luck!

1200. No questions. You won't regret that one later. 883 you will be sitting there wanting to upgrade. EFI not worth it. Much cheaper to do pipes, re-jet, etc. on the 06. I traded my 06 1200C for an 07 RKC, spent hardley anything to do the pipes, stage 1, re-jet to the Sporty. Just for the PC for the RKC, I am going to shell out close to $300. Ridiculous.

Thanks for the comments so far. I have four votes for the '06 1200C.
To answer your question, whaap, I do like the blacked out engine and extra chrome casing. But I also like the color scheme of the 883 better, so I consider the appearance a wash. I would likely be writing a check for either bike, so I probably wouldn't want to finance.
If I buy from an individual seller I don't need to pay tax on the bike?
