RE: Help Me Decide Between These Two Sportsters
I live in NY as well and when i bought my bike i had the seller give me a bill of sale that was 3000 less than i paid him for it. On it he wrote sold in 'AS IS' condition. Had no probs. at the DMV. Just say that it had some issues thats why you got it cheap.

All great opinions and options here
The best thing is what bike fits you the type of riding you will be doing and your riding style the best.
They both sound like very nice bikes and the 1200 looks to me as the better deal just because you have the extra HP and Torque available
My wife just bought a 883c, I tried totalk her into a 1200c but that was the bike she felt most comfortable on.
The 883 will also save on insurance, if that is a obsitcle for you.
If you have not already,You should ride both before you make your final decesion

RE: Help Me Decide Between These Two Sportsters
Last week I had a similar decision, and decided onmy '051200 C vs an '04 883 C. My 1200 was 800 more w/ 3k more miles, but it was the right decision for me. I think you may find some sellers accepting less than your prices. - ebay, craigslist etc. If you are looking in central OH, PM me for leads I found.
Either way you will love the bike, I have had a blast.

I'll sell you my 1200R with 10000 miles with windshield and detachable sissy bar for 7800

Nice signature photo,Jake. I also see that it's 115 in Rancho Mirage! Dang! I hope your A/C is working.
The insurance differential is about $50-$60 per year more to insure the 1200.

RE: Help Me Decide Between These Two Sportsters
Given the choice I would go with the 1200. I got an 883 myself two months back and although I like it I would like to feel a little more power. Mine had a lot of upgrades on it and if flashy is what you like then maybe the 883 another difference is the injection or carb, mines a 2005 and is fine and also came with 500+ miles which is nothing. If you have experience then I say the 1200 and customize it too how you like it

1200 for what little thats worth, I hope you get what moves you, and not what us who are not cutting the check think.

Thanks for the comments so far. I have four votes for the '06 1200C.
To answer your question, whaap, I do like the blacked out engine and extra chrome casing. But I also like the color scheme of the 883 better, so I consider the appearance a wash. I would likely be writing a check for either bike, so I probably wouldn't want to finance.
If I buy from an individual seller I don't need to pay tax on the bike?
